有人在找房,有猫在等家

For many young people who come to Shanghai to pursue their dreams, finding a place to rent is often the very first step toward building a new life.

Meanwhile, in another corner of the city, there is a group of little lives also waiting for a place to call home — stray cats.

This year, Wellcee joined Shanghai’s Three-Year Responsible Pet Ownership Initiative and visited Cat Island, an officially recognized animal rescue and demonstration center. Once an abandoned kindergarten, the site is now home to more than 300 rescued cats. Some were abandoned by their previous owners, while others were rescued after suffering injuries or illness. Their daily care, including food, medical treatment, and shelter maintenance, requires ongoing support and resources.

After learning about the shelter’s needs, Wellcee donated 160 kilograms of cat food and a dedicated rescue fund of RMB 5,000, all of which will be used for the cats’ daily feeding and medical expenses. Beyond financial and material support, Wellcee employees also volunteered at the shelter, helping clean the grounds, organize supplies, and build cat houses to create a safer and more comfortable environment for the animals.

By stepping into the rescue center and meeting these cats firsthand, many volunteers realized that animal rescue is far more than a simple act of kindness. It is a long-term commitment that requires time, effort, resources, and responsibility.

This is also the inspiration behind Wellcee’s “Finding Home Project.”

As a rental housing platform, Wellcee cares not only about connecting people with homes, but also about fostering meaningful relationships between people and their pets, as well as between individuals and their communities.

In recent years, more and more young renters have hoped to live with their pets. However, pet-friendly rental options remain relatively limited. In response to this growing demand, Wellcee has continued to promote pet-friendly housing, providing more choices for pet owners. At the same time, the platform actively advocates responsible pet ownership through community initiatives and events, encouraging people to care for their pets responsibly and helping reduce pet abandonment.

Looking ahead, the “Finding Home Project” will continue to launch a variety of charitable initiatives, including virtual pet sponsorship programs, shelter visits, and adoption events. Through these efforts, Wellcee hopes to raise greater awareness of stray animals and give more of them the opportunity to find a loving home.

For people, home is where a stable and fulfilling life begins.

For stray cats, a home is a place where they are welcomed, cared for, and never abandoned again.

And what Wellcee hopes to do is help make more of these stories about finding a home become reality.
